Backend-leaning software engineer · Remote from Idaho

Melissa McCarthy

Hi, I'm Melissa. I build software from a small town in eastern Idaho, and I'm happiest in the parts of a system where almost-right isn't good enough: the booking logic that can't double-book, the import that can't quietly drop a row, the export that can't hand someone a corrupt file and call it done.

For six years I've been a full-stack engineer at a product consultancy, mostly in regulated spaces like healthcare, legal, and medical research. I lean backend and architecture, though I'm just as happy in the front end when that's where the problem is.

Away from the keyboard, you'll usually find me on a trail with my black lab Milo, deep in a book, or planning the next project a little too enthusiastically. I also volunteer as tech lead for a nonprofit that brings more women and girls into tech. If you want the detailed version, my experience and projects are below.
