I'm Melissa. I build software remotely from eastern Idaho, mostly on the backend of products in healthcare, legal services, and public health.

The parts I like best are the corners where nobody has figured out how a thing should work yet. Hand me an undefined system and I'll come back with a data model, a rollout plan, a long list of tickets, and more questions than you asked for.

Recently I tackled a stalled AI assistant prototype for class-action settlements. Claimants ask it questions about their case and get answers drawn from the settlement documents themselves, with a citation back to the page. The prototype worked for a single client but had no path to being sold to a second, so I rebuilt the platform underneath it. About four months later it went live with its first paying clients.

I'm also the volunteer Tech Lead on the board at Women Innovators, a nonprofit working to advance women and girls in STEaM across Idaho. Away from the desk I'm usually on the trail with my black lab Milo or deep in a book with a good cup of tea.
